Skippy's Entertainment - Race Night's, Discos & Quizzes in Kent
Race Night's

If you require a Race Night Show with Skippy’s Entertainment please click on the contact us page for details.

The show is free to you, but a minimum number of horses must be sold on the Owner & Jockeys sheet so that a Compere can be allocated to you without risk to the Charity. That minimum is 50 Owner & Jockeys, which will ensure there is at least £100 available to the Compere when he/she arrives. However please try to sell as many as possible, and he/she will give you a free bottle of spirit if you sell over £140.

You can also hold a Private Race Night event, and the monies raised will go to the Charity of your choice. This is the only time we charge for a Race Night, for a list of prices, please contact us.

Apart from Horse's we also have some novelty races, which include Pig Races, Dog Races, Trotting and even a Camel Race, so if the horses get a bit monotonous we can bring some variety into the proceedings.

We want you to enjoy the show along with your customers. The Compere will be fully equipped, and only requires a table to work on. If you can, please relax and enjoy the show.

The Compere will describe to the audience the great work the Charity does. He or she will then explain the running of the show. All are actual races, mostly run on British soil. The original commentary has been erased, and there is a special commentary by well-known British Commentators referring to the horses by numbers only.

For obvious reasons it’s important that the Compere doesn’t know which actual film will correspond with the race on which the bets have been placed. With this in mind, when the betting has closed, the Compere will invite a member of the audience to select a film. Once it has been chosen the Compere is not allowed to accept any more bets. This ensures that everything is fair and above board.

In order to comply with the Lotteries and Amusement Act of 1976 certain conditions have to be met. The most important of these is that a lottery is not gambling in the legal sense, but there is a line between the two which must not be crossed. Our Race Night’s are an entertaining method of selecting a winning number as in any Lottery, and the Tote tickets are simply chance numbers, as nobody knows at the time of betting which film will be used. No horse or jockey names are used, no odds are given, and the runners’ form is only described after the betting has closed.

Also a Race Night should not be the only form of entertainment on the night, so to comply with this requirement, we run a General Knowledge Quiz concurrently with the races.

Our shows are governed by the Charities Act 1992/2006 in which there is a set of rules which professional fundraisers must carefully follow. The most important of these is that we have a legal binding contract with the Charities we support, and that the Charities themselves must be legally constituted and registered.
So you can relax in the knowledge that all the relevant laws have been obeyed to the letter, you can safely hold a Race Night on your premises without prior permission, and you do not have to register with the police or obtain a permit.

We will ensure that the evening is a success – both for yourself and the Charity

Thank you for looking around the website. We will do our utmost to make the night a memorable one, and please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
